Magical Event Flowers for 583 Park Avenue
Recently, we designed the floral décor for the 2011 Endeavor Gala at 583 Park Avenue in NYC. Our exotic flower arrangements and event flowers were a big hit at the magical event!
The color palette for the Middle Eastern-themed fundraising event was peacock and hot pink. With that inspiration, our event’s flowers and decor made use of colorful Moroccan lanterns, bright pink, aqua and amethyst glass, peacock blue feathers, and “Hot Lady” rose petals to create a lush effect that enhanced the exotic theme of the night.
Each exotic flower arrangement at the event combined flowers with a miniature tableau of lanterns, votives, orchids, and rose petals on a mirrored tray, so the colors and lights were magnified and reflected.

Because the Big Apple Florist design studio is located a few blocks from the United Nations on 45th Street, every year during the third week of September we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of the hubbub that accompanies the arrival of world leaders and their delegations. Over the next few weeks in September, we are usually busy assisting the Missions and Embassies with event flowers, welcoming gifts, and floral décor for special events in addition to our everyday NYC flower deliveries.
Creating Event Flowers for NYC’s United Nations Summits
On Monday we got an exciting opportunity to provide floral décor for a special UN Summit Side Event sponsored by the United Republic of Tanzania and held at NYU’s College for Dentistry [Read more →]

Snow
It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow
Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow
Why on earth am I singing songs from “White Christmas” in early September? Because I’m a florist, that’s why! Oddly enough, here at Big Apple we began preparing for the holidays in July, like industrious little squirrels. We spent the summer shopping for gorgeous wreaths, trees, ornaments and bows to add festive sparkle to homes and offices when we offer holiday decorating services come Christmastime.

Flowers have the unique capacity to pay tribute to both life and death. Just as they can signify the start of spring and new life, they are also used to honor our loved ones in death.
Flowers are an important part of American culture and funeral tradition as an expression of sympathy, and providing beautiful, delicate flower arrangements is an important funeral florist NYC service that we at Big Apple Florist provide.
Choosing the Right Funeral Flower Arrangement
Over the years providing funeral florist NYC services, I have noticed a trend away from traditional, large sympathy designs such as sprays and fan-shaped baskets. Today’s funeral flower arrangements are more understated and personal, meant to decorate the room in an elegant manner. [Read more →]

When the thermometer goes above 80˚F, I become an insane, rage-filled lunatic. The subway makes me angry. Walking down the street is a test of self control. Understandably, the latest heat wave in the Big Apple has been a real struggle for me, and many New Yorkers share my pain. I find myself longing for a beach day – soft sand, cool water, and a fresh ocean breeze – not to mention a tall, icy cold, potent, tropical drink.
At least as a florist in NYC, I can find a daily escape in vibrant cool color of fresh summer flower bouquets (and a walk-in cooler). Here are some tricks you can use to get the same effect, creating a beach-inspired look for a summer floral centerpiece or a tropical oasis on a corner of your desk to keep the dog days of summer at bay. If you’ve ever visited loved ones in the hospital, you know how much their faces light up when they receive gifts or flowers. Diseases like cancer are especially traumatizing experiences, so bringing flowers for cancer patients can be an especially meaningful gesture.

Weddings are a fabulous time for relatives and friends alike to mingle and catch up. Many families find that due to scheduling and travel restrictions, the only time they see each other anymore is at a family get together. So, it’s very important that there’s nothing standing between your guests that might prevent an easy-flowing dialogue. No-one wants to try and peek around a centerpiece to make eye contact.
This is where tall flower arrangements come in. When coupled with a tall, slim vase, these centerpieces will provide all the elegance and beauty you’re looking for, with none of the bulky distraction of an eye-level display.

The best get-well flowers and gifts are unique, personalized messages to the recipient…reminding them that while we can’t always be with them, they are never far from our thoughts. We want the gift we send to lift their spirits and, if we’re lucky, help to give them a temporary respite from their strife. Fresh flower arrangements are always a thoughtful choice…the gentle fragrance and bright colors in the bouquet are an instant mood lift. Combining get well flowers and gifts together is an excellent way to provide that extra-special touch that will ensure your recipient will be on the road to recovery in no time. Consider one of these unique combinations for your next floral delivery:

Now that fall and winter are approaching and daylight won’t last as long, it is time to start thinking about lighting for your events. Matching candles and flowers can be the perfect addition. Although our primary focus of work is floral décor, we have mentioned to you before that we are capable of producing events in their entirety: from linens to flatware and more, Big Apple Florist can do it all. According to our designers, their 2nd favorite aspect of events, besides flowers of course, is handling the lighting. Lighting sets the tone and the mood for the event. Dim, candle-lit lighting is the ultimate way to evoke feelings of love, romanticism, and a sense of warmth.

“Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”
- Mark Twain
We all make mistakes and sometimes we forget things or do things that hurt those closest to us. There are many types of situations that call for “I’m Sorry Flowers”. There is the “I forgot that special occasion” (a birthday or anniversary) the “I missed that important event” (a wedding or graduation) and the “I made a blunder” (said or did something formidable). Often times, just saying your sorry is not enough, and finding the right words can be a challenge. When you send apology flowers, no matter what the circumstances, you are providing a means to begin the forgiveness process. The beauty, fragrance, energy, and allure of flowers have a calming effect that cannot be matched. We can help you find the perfect I’m sorry flowers for any circumstance.
