September 20th, 2012 by Georgeann That day has come for the Jewish community to celebrate its most important day of the year, Yom Kippur. This holy day is meant for purifying the soul and cleansing all your sins before God by fasting for 26 hours. The celebration before and after Yom Kippur are festive meals that ignite the abundant New Year and bless our children. Although this holiday is very serious and comes with much thought and prayer, it has an underlying meaning to symbolize the joy of the New Year and the confidence that God will forgive our sins.

I live in a very Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn, NYC. I went on a run last night and happened to notice many Jewish families walking hand in hand, groups were singing Jewish hymns while others were laughing and chasing after each other. Regardless of our cultural differences, we all share common threads:

Everyone starts somewhere – whether you were doing hours of filing, coffee runs, picking up dry cleaning or drafting emails. You mostly likely supported someone when you first started work, and maybe that’s how you ultimately made it to the top of the ladder.
Now that you’re the boss, remember that every great leader has a fabulous support team underneath them.
That’s why Secretary’s Day (which is now knows as Administrative Professional’s week) was created in 1952. The idea was to recognize the importance and value of these support roles in the workplace and encourage more people to become administrative assistants. And so, during the last week of April, we traditionally take the time to appreciate all the hard work our office support staff do to help us each and every day.
Should I Buy Flowers for My Administrative Assistant?
Of course you should! New York City offices today are especially busy, and sometimes it’s hard to stop and smell the roses – or in other words, just say “Thank you!” to that amazing assistant you have in your office. In some cases, office executives lean on their assistants so much that they earn the title “work wife” or “work husband.” If this sounds familiar, it’s in your interest to make sure you pull out all the stops this Administrative Professional’s Week. December 14th, 2009 by Abu Christmas Gift Baskets with a Reason, Tis’ the Season!
Your ideas for Christmas gift baskets should never be the type that are easily forgotten-that is, making your end product look more like a standard gift rather than something thoughtfully
crafted. This doesn’t mean you need to break the bank or become lost in indecision when putting together your potential masterpiece of a gift basket, but you should take a moment to think about how you can make it truly your own. As a matter of fact, you might be better off treating any notions of your gift baskets for Christmas as creative projects rather than just another item you pull off the shelf (surely you already have enough of those; now it’s time to get creative!).
