many New Yorkers share my pain. I find myself longing for a beach day – soft sand, cool water, and a fresh ocean breeze – not to mention a tall, icy cold, potent, tropical drink.
At least as a florist in NYC, I can find a daily escape in vibrant cool color of fresh summer flower bouquets (and a walk-in cooler). Here are some tricks you can use to get the same effect, creating a beach-inspired look for a summer floral centerpiece or a tropical oasis on a corner of your desk to keep the dog days of summer at bay. My wedding day was the happiest day of my life. Really. Even today, almost 9 years later, all I need to do to feel a tingle of pure joy is remember that day. 2 seconds after I received my wedding bouquet!
I had to have my bouquet surgically removed from me to dance our first dance as man and wife. At one point, our photographer begged me to put it down: “Just one picture without the flowers, please?” [Read more →]

I recently rejoined the team here at Big Apple Florist and I’ve been entrusted to become the next Big Apple Florist Blogger. I hope in the coming months to educate, inform and entertain you! I am passionate about flowers and I love to share my enthusiasm, so I am going to try to use this blog to introduce the general public to the fascinating world of flowers and plants.

I left for a few years to try out some other flower studios, recently even making the excursion out to the farthest reaches of northern Queens! And now I’ve happily returned to Big Apple Florist. I’ve had lots of different floral jobs, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and insight.
My favorite aspect of my work, besides just seeing the flowers, is working with customers. I like to get to know people, so I can try to create an arrangement that is really going to make the best impression. [Read more →]

This exotic floral table arrangement includes Anthurium, Gloriosa Lilies, and Craspedia. This beautiful flower arrangement has been donned the “Queen of Hearts” because of the sheer presence it has in a room – the tropical flowers in combination with the grand looped leaves make it such an impressive bouquet. This is also a great representation of the work we do for our Weekly Corporate Flowers.
